ARRANGER NOTES — This arrangement features excerpts from five carols rolled into one medley (77 meas. in just five pages). It is perfect for a short prelude or offertory which, for many of you will take very little preparation.
The First Noel – written in G, this only appears as an eight bar introduction with a ‘decorated’ melody.
There’s a Song in the Air – This lesser-known, but beautiful melody continues in the key of G and includes the entire song. Notice that the chords become a little more sophisticated in this one.
Angels We Have Heard on High – This arrangement just includes two choruses (the ‘fun’ part: Glo-o-o-o-ori- a!) The first one is written in C Major and the second in Ef Major with the melody moving down to the L H.
Angels, from the Realms of Glory – Returning to the key of C Major, this carol appears in its entirety with broader feel (fuller chords and lots of moving eighth notes).
O Holy Night! – Is a perfect ending to this carol medley, especially with a change to the traditional 12/8 meter!
