ARRANGER NOTES — In the first verse of this traditional Easter hymn the melody goes back and forth between hands. The first phrase of each line is played by the right hand followed by the ‘alleluia’ answer in the left hand. At bar 17 the second verse not only modulates to the key of A major, but also changes meter from 4/4 to 6/8. This new meter gives renewed energy to this familiar piece and is surprisingly easy to play. (Make sure that you use the fermata at bar 16 to give the music a chance to ‘breathe’ between verses.)
