HAPPY FALL, Y'ALL
(Nashville 'talk', of course). I'm actually here in my home office in historic Franklin TN just south of Nashville in Williamson County. Some of you may have heard about the unbelievable growth of this area in the past few years. It's exciting in many ways . . . well, except for rush hour. But thankfully I get to work at home!!
In my first newsletter I told you how I ended up here in Music City - in other words, the PAST). So this time I thought I would focus more on the PRESENT. As you know, I have been fortunate to write for several Christian publishers and remain very grateful for each one of them. Each company took care of the non-musical (should I say 'non-creative') side, and in that sense, I have become spoiled! (For example, securing permissions from other companies to use their best copyrights, being responsible for quarterly royalty payments, working with music engravers, etc. - all of which is quite time-consuming.
Fast forward to today when creating a website includes all of the functions I just mentioned . . . and more! Let's just say that it's a little bit like growing older (in other words, not recommended for the faint of heart)! But God, in His infinite wisdom, led me to four of the most capable co-workers I could imagine:
ANITA DANEKER (web designer extraordinaire, full of energy, trustworthy, and really, really patient)
RIC SIMENSON (master music engraver, editor and brilliant musician in his own right, designer / creator of the CAROL'SKEYS logo and (as my mother used to say) he has forgotten more than I will ever know!
Plus . . . DEBY DEARMAN (photographer, gifted artist and forever friend and TRACI BISHER who keeps track of copyright permissions and, most of all, this talented lady simply understands all facets of this business of music!
One of my main purposes in writing these monthly newsletters will be for us to get to know each other. I have met many church pianists and ministers of music who often feel isolated - especially those who live in smaller cities and towns with few opportunities for interaction. But for today I just want to make sure that you are aware of what is available to you at www.caroltornquist.com . . .
(1) FREE ARRANGEMENT - offered each month to download and play October 2018 it is "We Gather Together" (Easy Version) (You will find it under the PRODUCT MENU.)
(2) Two BRAND NEW ARRANGEMENTS written last month:
- "Holy Spirit, Rain Down" One of the most popular praise & worship songs in today's Church, and one of the few written about the Holy Spirit. NOTE: A rhythm chart is also available and a demo recording will be available later this month.
- "In the Garden" My favorite setting of this beloved hymn that I've ever written. (Read what I have said about it on the cover sheet.)
In November's newsletter we will talk about my books that have been published by Alfred Music. (Did you know that they are the second largest publisher in the world???)
One more thing - my sincerest apology for being late with the launch of www.caroltornquist.com PLUS not having time to develop my Facebook page. My reason: DEADLINES - a reality in the life of musicians. But we are back on track now and are looking forward to making up for lost time.
Now please check out the CAROL'SKEYS Christmas piano solos to download as well as more Christmas product available directly from ALFRED MUSIC.
See you on Facebook this month!
GRATEFUL . . .
