CAROL TORNQUIST grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania where she began to play the piano by ear at age four. She then studied piano at the Warren Conservatory of Music through high school and earned her B. S. in Music Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Following graduation, Carol taught vocal music in upstate New York while also being an instructor for the international Yamaha Music School.
A move to Nashville then led to a career as an arranger/writer for several Christian publishers such as Gaither Music, Paragon, Singspiration, Benson, Brentwood Music, Word, LifeWay, and currently as an author for Alfred Music Publishing. She has since written hundreds of collections including two piano methods plus artist folios for top secular artists like Susan Boyle and Celtic Woman. (One of her favorite experiences recently was arranging for RONNIE MILSAP GOSPEL GREATS . . . the country legend's first gospel recording.)
Carol's 'signature' style of arranging is always creative, well- crafted, user-friendly, harmonically and rhythmically tasteful, true to the lyrics and appropriate for traditional, contemporary and blended services of worship.
Still a teacher at heart, she remains dedicated to creating quality resources for pianists at all levels.
Carol makes her home in Franklin, TN.
